Recently, at the invitation of the School of Soil and Water Conservation and the College of Material Science and Technology, Professor Bohumil Kasal, a distinguished member of the International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS) and director of Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, visited BFU for an academic exchange. Representatives of faculty and students from Civil Engineering program at the School of Soil and Water Conservation and the Wood Science and Engineering program at the College of Material Science and Technology attended the meeting.
The leadership of the College of Water and Soil Conservation extended warm welcome to Professor Bohumil Kasal and his team. They provided an overview of BFU's history, faculty expertise, student development, and innovations in science and technology. It is hoped that both sides can enhance collaboration, particularly in fostering talent and advancing technological innovation to achieve high-quality outcomes.
Leaders from the departments of Civil Engineering, Wood Science and Engineering also detailed their respective academic history, research specialties, and strategic goals for the future.
Professor Kasal thanked BFU for facilitating collaborative efforts and provided an in-depth sight at the research focuses and significant achievements of both the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research and the Civil Engineering program at the Technical University of Braunschweig. He highly recommended the German "Humboldt Scholar" program to BFU faculty and students for exchanges and visits to Germany. Additionally, he presented a engaging academic lecture entitled "Materials from renewable resources - great future or just a modern trend? Are they really sustainable?" The lecture prompted active interaction and meaningful dialogue between him and the audience.
