On April 19th, Lu Yuanfan, a postgraduate student in the Class of 2022 from School of Information Science and Technology at BFU, made a successful hematopoietic stem cell donation at the Air Force Characteristic Medical Center. Lu had joined the China Bone Marrow Donor Registry upon starting his undergraduate studies at BFU in 2016. Upon hearing about a successful match in December 2023, he promptly agreed to donate without hesitation, becoming the 4th case at BFU, the 657th in Beijing, and the 17,355th voluntary donor of hematopoietic stem cells nationwide.
Sun Xinli, Vice-Chairman of University Council, along with Song Yonghong, Vice President of the Beijing Red Cross Society, Xia Yang, Vice President of the Haidian District Red Cross Society, and Tan Yi, Deputy Director of the Beijing Red Cross Donation Service Center, visited to express their condolences. Inside the donation room, Sun Xinli warmly inquired about Lu's health, commending his noble spirit of selflessness and dedication. She praised him as a pride for BFU, a role model for all students, and an exemplar of the sense of responsibility embodied by contemporary young university students.
Song Yonghong expressed gratitude and praise for Lu’s altruistic act, presenting him with an honorary certificate in recognition of his donation of hematopoietic stem cells.
Lu conveyed his heartfelt thanks for the support received from BFU and the Red Cross Society, expressing immense gratification in providing hope to others through his generous donation.
Representatives from the Graduate Work Department, the School of Information Science and Technology, visited the hospital together to extend their condolences.
